Education System
Most international students will enter directly into the UK higher education system, after completing their home country's equivalent to the UK's "further education"
You may have a question about "are students allowed to work" in UK? The answer is yes. International students studying in the UK may be able to apply for a work permit, also known as a visa, depending on the type of course they are taking and their nationality.
Full-time degree students can apply for a Tier 4 student visa, which allows them to work up to 20 hours per week during term time and full-time during holidays. Students on a course below degree level, such as a foundation course or an English language course, are generally not eligible for a Tier 4 visa and are not allowed to work.
If you are an international student and want to work in the UK, you must follow the same general steps as above. International students should be aware of a few extra steps they need to take in order to get a work permit, in addition to the ones that all work permit applicants need to take:
If your application is accepted, you'll get a letter of approval that you'll need to show to UK immigration officials when you arrive. You will also need to fill out an application for a biometric residence permit before you come to the UK.
